A lot of local business websites are built fast and cheap, on a stack of page-builder plugins that slows down every time you add a new one. It works for a year, then every update becomes fragile, every plugin update risks breaking the layout, and the site gets slower every time Google measures it.

UNIT10 builds two ways, chosen deliberately per project rather than by default: modern React-based builds (typically Next.js) for sites that need speed, flexibility and room to grow into real functionality, and best-practice WordPress builds for content-heavy sites where a client team needs to self-manage a large volume of pages through a familiar CMS.

Either way, the build is clean: no bloated plugin stacks, no unnecessary dependencies, code that's actually maintainable by whoever touches it next — including another developer, if it ever comes to that.

Site speed affects three things at once: how many visitors actually wait for your page to load, how Google ranks you, and how many of those visitors convert into enquiries. We build with Core Web Vitals as a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have — optimised images, minimal JavaScript, efficient fonts, and hosting/CDN setup that serves pages fast wherever your customers are.

This matters more for local businesses than most agencies admit: a plumber's customer searching on a phone standing in a leaking bathroom will leave a slow site in seconds and call the next result instead.

The website you need today is rarely the whole picture.
